Dotty Simplicity 1366

Lots of great versions of Simplicity 1366 have been popping up on blogs. Some of my favorite versions: Groovybaby and mama’s rayon , Sew DIY’s navy linen, Sohpie at Ada Spragg’s cheerful print. This Cynthia Rowley design has many of my current favorite features: boxy fit, dropped shoulders, cropped length. It was all I could do to wait for JoAnn’s $1 pattern sale!

I’m glad I did an initial test version since it was hard to figure out what size to sew with over 7 inches of ease at the bust. I tried a size 4 first but even after I let out the seams it was a little too tight in the arm pit and not quite slouchy enough. The size 8 was pretty darn close – I slightly lowered the arm scye, brought in the neck a little, and lengthened it by half an inch. The fabric is a dotty Robert Kaufman chambray. Super soft and very lightweight – almost floaty. Very nice to wear.

Details: sz 8, lowered army scye 1/4″, lowered neckline 1/4″, brought in neckline 1/4″ on each side, lengthened by 1/2″

Ooh, I really like this. I might have to try this pattern! Now, when’s the next pattern sale at Joann’s? Hmmmmmm.

P.S. Just noticed the “I Voted” sticker! Nice accessorizing! We had good results down here in Oakland (according to me, anyway), hope you feel the same way up in your parts. Trying to ignore the news on the federal level!

My little plug for political action. Pretty happy with our local results too. Glad things turned out well in Oakland. No idea when the next pattern sale is – they must have some kind of cycle. Really like this top & sooo easy to fit.
